Join the SBI Site Visit
6th March 2020
Following on from the Guernsey Recycling Group’s presentation on circular economies and recycling, which was delivered to the Chamber of Commerce in January 2020, we are pleased to be able to offer the opportunity to visit the different sites within the Recycling Group, kindly organised by the Chamber’s Sustainable Business Initiative.
There are 3 visit dates during March; enabling people the opportunity to visit Galaxy CI, the Guernsey Recycling Scrap Metal Yard, Mayside Recycling, and the Island Waste sites at Bulwer Avenue and Pointes Lane.
The visit to Galaxy CI has been organised for Tuesday the 10th March. We are looking forwards to showing attendees around the warehouse; and explain and demonstrate the onsite data destruction and erasure processes, hardware disassembly, and how we sort and separate hardware, component parts and electrical equipment for reuse, resale or recycling.
We audit our supply chains to ensure that all materials are either reused, or fed back into manufacturing processes within circular economies. We actively support and promote sustainability within our industry, and check all our off takers to ensure that they adhere to the same, or equivalent, environmental standards we do, such as ISO 14001. We are committed to the UN sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production.
Galaxy is currently working with some local third parties to identify new routes for reuse on island; in order to both reduce the volumes of materials we export off island, and reduce imports to the island in the first instance. We hope to collaborate more closely with public, commercial and third sectors to prevent, reduce, reuse and recycle more e-Waste, its associated packaging and manufacturing and transport emissions.
Please register your interest via Eventbrite.
Please note – if you are unable to visit us on the 10th March we would be very happy to show you around our warehouse another time. Please get in touch via contact@galaxyci.com.
