Successful ISO re-certification
6th November 2019
Galaxy CI has successfully achieved re-certification against the ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management and BS-EN 15713 Secure Destruction of Confidential Materials Standards, following an external audit in October 2019.
Our Customers may be aware that we recently recruited a new Management Team; and we would like to congratulate all our Employees for their hard work and contribution to this success. We are constantly seeking to improve our processes; and encourage our Customers and Employees to submit their suggestions and feedback so that we can continuously improve the quality, security, and environmental compliance, of the services we offer.
For example, we have recently installed CCTV cameras in our vehicles, in order to monitor the secure transport of data bearing items to our warehouses. The greatest risk in asset disposition occurs during transport.* Where on-site shredding is not practical or possible, we can offer Customers CCTV footage that proves the secure transport of their data from point of collection, to destruction, so they can rest assured any data removed from their site has definitely been destroyed. We continue to provide Evidence Notes for all data, and hardware, processed on or off site.
We also offer a sustainable alternative to secure data shredding; which may carry a lower carbon footprint than recycling. Readers should refer to the ESI Monitor for more information about carbon footprints, carbon offsetting and the associated social and environmental rating, which has replaced the Keep Guernsey Green Award.
Some Customers may prefer to re-purpose their redundant equipment, so with that in mind we offer a secure Data Erasure Service. We are pleased to assist Customers who want to donate their equipment, and make a contribution to the local community; whilst simultaneously ensuring all data security risks are mitigated through the use of licensed erasure software, compliant with NIST and EAL 2+ Standards. We safely remove any asset tags or identifying marks, and can deliver equipment to the third sector. A full Audit Report, and Erasure Certificates for each erased item, is provided.
Galaxy CI benefits from the expertise of the Guernsey Recycling Group’s (GRG) expertise. The Group’s Associate Director of Environmental Compliance has provided further Environmental Awareness training to the new Galaxy Team, and is assisting us in identifying the most environmentally friendly suppliers and sustainable supply chains within the UK and EU (pre, and post-Brexit!). We have invested much time and energy in updating our Environmental Management Systems and in Supplier Auditing; so that we can be sure we are processing component parts, and equipment, responsibly, ethically, safely and sustainably.
Every member of Galaxy’s Team has also undertaken security and data protection training with Fran, our BSI Accredited ISO 9001 and 27001 Internal Auditor; to ensure we understand the requirements of the BS-EN 15713 Secure Destruction Standard, and local Data Protection Laws.
Never satisfied nor sitting still – we are always trying to improve our processes, systems and services – so we have now set our sights on achieving the ISO 27001 Information Security Management Standard. We look forwards to providing you with an update on that soon!
We would like thank all our Customers for their support and positive feedback. If you have any questions, or would like to undertake your own audit on our services and processes, please get in touch anytime: call 01481 242412, or email contact@galaxyci.com.
